How to form a District of Columbia LLC (Limited Liability Company)

Organizing a District of Columbia LLC

A District of Columbia limited liability company is formed by filing Articles of Organization and paying the filing fee to District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). Submit the form by mail, in person or online. The filing fee is $220. District of Columbia offers 24-hour expedited processing for an additional $100. Walk in filings are automatically charged the expedite fee. Online filing can still take up to ten days.

Qualification of a Foreign LLC in District of Columbia

In order to register do business in District of Columbia, submit the Foreign Registration Statement with the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) by mail, in person or online. Pay the $220 filing fee for standard processing. Attach a Certificate of Good Standing or a Certificate of Existence from the jurisdiction of formation. It must be current within 30 days.
