How to form a Montana LLC (Limited Liability Company)

Organizing a Montana LLC

A limited liability company is formed in Montana by submitting the Articles of Organization and paying the filing fee to the Montana Secretary of State, Corporations Division. Submit the certificate by mail, in person or online. The filing fee is $70. Montana takes a week to ten day to process filings, and they do not offer expedited service.

Professional LLCs must have a least half of the managers as qualified professionals and state the licensing authority having jurisdiction of the professional service.

Qualification of a Foreign LLC in Montana

Register your foreign LLC to do business in Montana by filing the Certificate of Authority with the Secretary of State, Corporations Division by mail or in person. The filing fee is $70. Attach a certificate of good standing from the jurisdiction of organization, dated within six months of the certificate filing.
